#09:50:10wlayton_workdbs: that's what I'll find out right now
#09:59:04wlayton_workwell, the upgrade from opensrf-1.0.1-rc1 to 1.0.1 (final) worked fine on Ubuntu 8.04
#10:00:56wlayton_workOddly, "make" on Ubuntu 8.10 gave me a compile error (osrf_chat.c:608: error: 'HOST_NAME_MAX' undeclared)
#10:01:12wlayton_worknot critical...I won't be installing EG on 8.10, but thought I'd give OpenSRF a try
#10:11:27Mark__T has quit IRC
#10:38:00wlayton_work peut maintenant effectuer sa recherche en français!
#10:38:12wlayton_worklooks like the upgrade to -rc2 was a success
#10:38:17dbsyayz
#10:38:31dbswlayton++
#10:39:32wlayton_workone question: for the upgrade, I used the document on the DokuWiki for upgrade from 1.2 to 1.4. I obviously skipped the step that ran 1.2.3-1.4-upgrade-db.sql
#10:40:00wlayton_workI assumed that I wouldn't need a 1.4rc1-1.4-upgrade-db.sql...
#10:59:25kgsdbs: I think I'll forward that message to "general" and blog it, as well; for people who are observing, not upgrading, is there anything else to watch for?
#10:59:40kgsum... is there a 1.4 staff client available and if so where would they point it?
#11:03:38eeevilwlayton_work: actually, I did not create an rc1 to rc2 upgrade script ... I can do that for you, there are additions
#11:04:16wlayton_workeeevil: I would appreciate that - if it's not too much trouble for you
#11:04:30eeevillet me see what I can whip up quickly
#11:06:34phasefx_some kernel upgrade killed my virtualbox, so staff client packaging is delayed :-/

#11:14:37eeevilwlayton_work: mind if I email you an sql script to test?
#11:15:06eeevilif it works then I'll put it up on the wiki as part of the upgrade instructions
#11:18:34wlayton_work-= THIS MESSAGE NOT LOGGED =-
#11:19:14eeevilwlayton_work: email in flight
#11:23:36wlayton_workeeevil: seems to have worked
#11:23:54wlayton_workeeevil: Is there a way to check?
#11:24:12eeevilif the commit at the end didn't fail, you're good :)
#11:24:18wlayton_workperfect
#11:24:34eeevilrestart of services will be required, though
#11:24:55wlayton_workyep - did that and everything looks fine
#11:26:56eby has joined #OpenILS-Evergreen
#11:26:59LaBonProblem testing connection to evergreen. When I do the command srfsh the srfsh# prompt does come up. When I enter the login admin open-ils command it give me a ???" login admin open-ils. It is not letting me add username and password. Any suggestions?
#11:30:29phasefx_LaBon: have you run settings-tester.pl?
#11:31:07LaBon1 has joined #openils-evergreen
#11:31:08LaBon has quit IRC
#11:31:23phasefx_LaBon1: have you run settings-tester.pl?
#11:32:06LaBon1Will run
#11:32:31phasefx_you can use http://paste.lisp.org/new/openils-evergreen to paste the output to us
#11:35:52DoomsDave has joined #openils-evergreen
#11:37:47LaBon1Where would the output log be
#11:38:15LaBon1The settings-tester.pl runs in a terminal and disappears
#11:38:59phasefx_you should run it from within a terminal so the output stays on screen
#11:39:18phasefx_also, make sure you run it as user opensrf
#11:39:51DoomsDaveI am trying to import holdings as per the instructions at http://open-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=evergreen-admin:importing:bibrecords but whenever I run the import_holdings.pl script as it says to do, I get the error "Unknown option: marc_file"
#11:40:03phasefx_alternately, you could probably make your GUI not close the terminal after, and have it run as user opensrf. but command-line might be easier
#11:41:29phasefx_DoomsDave: what version of EG?
#11:41:55phasefx_and what version of import_holdings.pl?
#11:42:45dbskgs: I'll copy that message to -general
#11:43:19DoomsDaveEG is 1.2.3.1. As for import.pl, I'm not sure how to check the version on it but it's the one that came with that version of Evergreen...
#11:43:40kgsdbs: thankee. they may have that staff client question -- I've heard that from several people.
#11:43:47phasefx_DoomsDave: the instructions on the wiki page says you should use the trunk version of that script
#11:44:10dbskgs: yep, that's why it says "coming soon" :)
#11:44:44LaBon1what is the command to have settings-tester.pl run in the terminal
#11:45:15phasefx_yeah, my kernel upgraded, but ubuntu gutsy doesn't have matching kernel modules for virtualbox.. rather than do the simple thing and reboot and select the old kernel, I'm being a masochist and upgrading from gutsy to hardy
#11:45:18DoomsDaveOk but the link on the page didn't seem to work. Is there another place I should get it?
#11:46:09phasefx_LaBon1: which desktop environment are you using?
#11:46:22LaBon1ubunto 8.10
#11:46:34kgsdbs thanx -- I'd be inclined to note that earlier staff clients won't work with it
#11:47:09dbskgs: that can happen in responses, I suppose
#11:47:39LaBon1Sorry, Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy heron)
#11:47:41dbsperfect is the enemy of the good, and all that
#11:47:56dbsor the enemy of time, at least
#11:48:08kgs muzzles self
#11:49:51phasefx_LaBon1: use whichever terminal you've been using to install EG.. konsole, gnome-terminal, xterm, etc. then cd to your EG source directory, and su to root, then su to opensrf, then Open-ILS/src/support-scripts/settings-tester.pl
#11:49:56phasefx_DoomsDave: I'm looking
#11:51:06phasefx_DoomsDave: gee, that script doesn't appear to exist in trunk anymore
#11:53:36lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "Settings-tester.pl" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70763
#11:54:12LaBon1phasefx, I have post the settings-tester.pl
#11:55:13phasefx_LaBon1: is port 5222 the correct port for your postgres database? Should it be 5432?
#11:56:59LaBon1I can change it in the opensrf_core.xml file and the .srfsh.xml file and will run again
#11:59:40phasefx_DoomsDave: you may want to ping the list for what other folks are doing, and poke for someone to update that wiki page
#12:01:12dbsphasefx: are you drunk? http://svn.open-ils.org/trac/ILS/browser/trunk/Open-ILS/src/support-scripts/settings-tester.pl
#12:01:44dbsphasefx: oh, wait, wrong script :)
#12:01:45phasefx_dbs: http://svn.open-ils.org/trac/ILS/browser/trunk/Evergreen/src/extras/import/import_holdings.pl
#12:01:49phasefx_:P~
#12:01:54dbsdbs--
#12:02:15dbsphasefx_: right that moved over to Open-ILS instead of Evergreen
#12:02:23LaBon1Phasefx can you send me a link to post the settings-tester.pl resulfs
#12:02:39dbsoh that!
#12:02:51dbsthat's over in ILS-Contrib - heh
#12:02:57phasefx_dbs: I tried searching my whole source tree for it.. ah...
#12:03:14dbshttp://svn.open-ils.org/trac/ILS-Contrib/wiki/ImportDemo
#12:03:16phasefx_LaBon1: what are you wanting?
#12:03:20lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "Settings-tester.pl new" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70765
#12:03:40dbsnope, I'm drunk. what the heck is that script?
#12:04:27dbsoh, that script
#12:04:45dbsDid anyone actually use it?
#12:05:08phasefx_LaBon1: that's one scary paste :)
#12:06:45phasefx_LaBon1: did you have any onscreen errors earlier when you were installing Evergreen?
#12:07:01LaBon1No errors on the install
#12:09:18phasefx_LaBon1: it looks like settings-tester is still trying to connect to port 5222 for the database, which I suspect is wrong
#12:09:49phasefx_LaBon1: grep 5222 /openils/conf/*xml
#12:10:37LaBon1You right I will change the settings
#12:14:39kgswell, an analogy is to say that PINES runs Evergreen. The Associated Press is running... well, I have to assume it is Beelzebub Software
#12:15:21kgssorry, wrong channel -- I was responding about the AP Styleguide software ;)
#12:16:50lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "Settings-tester.pl new 2" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70767
#12:19:46phasefx_LaBon1: it's still going to port 5222
#12:21:15dbsmay need to restart_perl to pick up the new settings in opensrf.xml
#12:21:45LaBon1okay
#12:21:56dbsjabber not being able to connect is bad, obviously
#12:22:20phasefx_gee, this virtualbox upgrade wants to discard all my snapshots
#12:23:12phasefx_well, I have all the instructions on the wiki.. so.. <pushes red button>
#12:26:30LaBon1phasefx, thanks for the help going to eat and will return in a couple of hours. Again, thanks
#12:38:47dbs goes to eat as well
#12:43:21kgsphasefx_ were you packaging the client? if so I could test it... just lmk
#12:46:42phasefx_yeap, will do. Thanks!
#13:37:55LaBon1Phasefx, for some reason I don't think I have step 17 in the installation correct. I am posting another settings-tester.pl file.
#13:38:19lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "Settings-tester.pl" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70773
#13:51:04wlayton_workLaBon1: I have a two-part question for you: First, In Step 4, did you execute the the second-to-last statement, "createuser -P evergreen" ? (I'm guessing that the answer is "yes")
#13:52:38wlayton_workSecond, if you execute the following command:
#13:52:50wlayton_workgrep "<user>" /openils/conf/opensrf.xml
#13:53:31wlayton_work...what do you see between the "<user>" and "</user>" tags?
#13:58:28jamesrf has joined #openils-evergreen
#14:01:31LaBon1I get opensrf
#14:03:51wlayton_workLaBon1: I think you need to go through your /openils/conf/opensrf.xml file and look for "<user>opensrf</user>" tag embedded in <database> tags
#14:04:09wlayton_workthen change "<user>opensrf</user>" to "<user>evergreen</user>"
#14:04:20LaBon1OK
#14:04:34wlayton_workjust to make sure: you can log in with "psql -U evergreen evergreen", right?
#14:05:01LaBon1yes
#14:05:18dbsor "psql -U evergreen -h localhost -p 5432 evergreen" to mimic what evergreen is doing
#14:05:18wlayton_workokay - then yes, go in and change those tags!
#14:08:48lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "Settings-tester.pl" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70777
#14:09:01LaBon1This is the new settings-tester.pl
#14:09:32wlayton_workLaBon1: Well, the database stuff looks a little better now
#14:10:03LaBon1Yes, the jabber connection looks like the problem
#14:10:10dbsI suspect opensrf_core.xml is mucked up.
#14:10:26LaBon1I will paste a copy
#14:10:33phasefx_ has quit IRC
#14:11:44lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "opensrf_core.xml" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70778
#14:13:16wlayton_workLaBon1: If you look under the tag "<chopchop>", the port for "Our Jabber Server" is set to 5432. Not sure if that's correct (mine is 5222)
#14:13:31dbsyeah, your port is wrong for sure
#14:14:14wlayton_workLaBon1: Also, scrolling further down, there's a port under "<-- jabber login info -->" that has the same problem (5432 instead of 5222)
#14:14:20dbsand before that.
#14:14:34dbsall the ports are wrong.
#14:15:04LaBon1So change all ports to 5222
#14:15:21dbsin opensrf_core.xml, yes
#14:15:24wlayton_workwell, except <s2sport>5269</s2sport> - you've got that one right
#14:15:43dbsbut that one doesn't matter, unless you're actually using chopchop
#14:16:10wlayton_workah.
#14:16:41phasefx_ has joined #openils-evergreen
#14:17:39phasefx_and you want any database ports to remain 5432
#14:18:04lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted "Settings-tester.pl" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70779
#14:18:10LaBon1okay, look like all is good.
#14:18:55LaBon1I should be able to issue the srfsh command
#14:19:18bag has quit IRC
#14:19:59dbsphasefx: right, which is why I specifically mentioned opensrf_core.xml :)
#14:20:15dbsLaBon1: as long as your .srfsh.xml file is correct, yes.
#14:22:06phasefx_dbs: hey, I still haven't learned the difference between those two opensrf files :)
#14:23:03dbsphasefx: you want to go back to having bootstrap.conf to worry about, too?
#14:24:45LaBon1opensrf@evergreen:/openils/bin$ /openils/bin/srfsh Unable to bootstrap client for requests opensrf@evergreen:/openils/bin$
#14:24:46phasefx_oh, I never "worried" about these things. :D I just leaned on your handy dandy vmware images. dbs++
#14:24:56dbshah
#14:25:07LaBon1The error I get is Unable to bootstrap client for requests
#14:25:15dbsand I in turn leaned like a ton of bricks on berick++ / miker_++
#14:25:41dbsLaBon1: paste your .srfsh.xml file too please
#14:26:09lisppaste6LaBon1 pasted ".srfsh.xml file" at http://paste.lisp.org/display/70780
#14:26:46dbsLaBon1: have you run the start_router, start_perl, start_c commands?
#14:27:40LaBon1Okay
#14:29:08LaBon1I get a unable to connect roter to jabber server localhost
#14:40:38LaBon1Okay, I got back to the srfsh# but since the login admin open-ils gives ???: login admin open-ils
#14:42:11LaBon1I ran the settings-tester.pl again with no errors
#14:47:22LaBon1When I type the login admin open-ils I get "Unable to communicate with service open-ils.auth ???: Login admin open-ils"
#14:50:06wlayton_workLaBon1: As dbs said above, did you do the following: "osrf_ctl.sh -l -a start_all" ?
#14:50:24LaBon1Yes

#17:09:54agJohnAnyone have any ideas about a situation where ps shows ejabberd running but it won't talk (even to ejabberdctl)--/etc/init.d/ejabberd stop comes back saying it's already stopped.... I tied killing the processes and restarting via /etc/init.d/ejabberd start; it comes back up (or so it seems from ps), but it still won't talk.... Any ideas gratefully entertained (this is a Debian Etch install).
