#10:01:39tsbere shakes his fist at Vandelay in XULRunner 10

#10:16:30tsberecsharp: Guess what we use over 430 times in Evergreen but no longer works in xulrunner
#10:18:04csharpwhat?

#10:21:23tsbere is trying to make things work despite that
#10:22:47tsbere isn't getting far in some respects
#10:24:48phasefx_tsbere: get us firebug/chromebug working instead of vandelay and I'd be happy :)
#10:36:35tsberephasefx_: Right now I am wondering how I broke logging in. In general. :/
#10:47:52tsbere resumes shaking his fist at vandely
#10:48:11kmlussiertsbere: you make me nervous every time you say that.
#10:48:38yboston has joined #evergreen
#10:49:27tsberekmlussier: I would tell you not to be, but at this point I have no clue what is going *wrong* >_> At least the issue is "it won't load properly at all" and not "it loads, but then is screwy"
#10:51:57kmlussiertsbere: hmmmm...I've had issues with Vandelay loading in master recently. Is it possible it's not xulrunner 10 issue but a general vandelay issue?
#10:52:40tsberekmlussier: Do you get trapped in an endless dialog loop that requires a force close of the client?
#10:54:56kmlussiertsbere: No. my issue is that it takes a long time to upload, and when I ultimately get to the queue, there are 0 records. It happens with matchsets and files that had previously worked. So it sounds like something different.
#10:55:25tsberekmlussier: AKA, you can load it, but it is screwy. I can't even load it.
#11:02:06gmcharlt@quote random
#11:02:06pinesol_greengmcharlt: Quote #6: "<jeff> i meant to use that quote in my talk :)" (added by gmcharlt at 07:24 PM, April 29, 2011)
#11:19:32csharp has never had success with vandelay
#11:19:49csharpbut I've not tried in the current release, either
#11:20:21kmlussiercsharp: there are a lot of improvements in 2.2
#11:20:22csharpkmlussier: I found that I had to go to the linux logs to track progress, find errors, etc.
#11:20:32csharpgood to know
#11:22:02kmlussiercsharp: good to know. Of course, I just forwarded the problem along to somebody who might know better. :-)
#11:23:41csharpthe number of records per load for us was definitely part of the issue
#11:24:18csharpwe were getting vendor-provided authority record updates numbering in the thousands
#11:24:53csharpall in a single humongous binary file
#11:25:38tsbere is up to 178 files changed, 617 insertions(+), 1821 deletions(-)
#11:40:08tsbereOh fun, I broke JSPac, but TPac is fine
#11:44:05denialsleave JSPac broken
#11:44:35tsberedenials++
#11:44:45tsbereBut I think some people would have issues with that ;)
#11:44:45csharpyeah - I'm usually pretty conservative about this kind of thing, but I wouldn't worry about JSPac past 2.2
#11:45:35csharpI think our users would welcome a (well-tested, completely functional and vetted) change ;-)
#11:45:42tsbereSo if I make JSPac searches work in the staff client you can't click on the results. If I make it so you can click on the results then searches don't load.........
#11:46:09tsbere thinks he has to actually touch JSPac for this one >_>
#12:00:25csharpBug #940444
#12:00:25pinesol_greenLaunchpad bug 940444 in Evergreen "Browse Holds Shelf page in staff client does not properly sort on "Available On" column" (affected: 1, heat: 6) [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/940444
#12:00:46csharp is lazy and posted that here just to get the link ;-)
#12:00:49csharpcsharp--
#12:00:53tsberecsharp: that sounds familiar. As in "date columns don't sort correctly in general" :P
#12:01:13tsbereoh goody, I fixed jspac
#12:02:15tsbere stills shakes his fist at vandelay, though
#12:02:21csharpyeah - one of our directors does a lot of fine-grained searching for patrons that our other libraries apparently don't
#12:04:55tsbere179 files changed, 634 insertions(+), 1868 deletions(-)
#12:05:02tsbereAnd I think I am going to break for lunch now

#13:30:03tsbereOk, I am driving myself nuts looking for where vandelay determines that your session has expired. Or where it might do that on initial load anyway. Don't suppose anyone can point me somewhere useful?
#13:33:30bericktsbere: /js/ui/base.js
#13:33:57berickall the /eg UI's (except tpac) use that for session fetching
#13:35:09tsbere feels that this work is going to need a *lot* of testing when he feels he is done with it
#13:37:33tsbereberick++
#13:37:44tsbereFor that pointer *and* for getting me to add autologin command line options
#13:37:50tsbere still has to fight with finding the issue, though
#13:43:55csharpberick: thanks for sharing that - we're troubleshooting a session issue too ;-)
#13:45:15tsberecsharp: I bet my session issue is more annoying, though ;)
#13:45:53csharptsbere: I don't know - ours is random and involves many disgruntled library folks ;-)
#13:46:30tsberecsharp: Mine requires I force-kill the client every time I load pages that trigger it.
#14:00:26csharpah - that does sound annoying ;-)

#16:34:29tsbere is starting to think his method of dealing with remote xul is too flawed. :(
#16:38:17phasefx__bott_: cool deal. I'm going the heavy-weight route of embedding the normal holds interface. fun fun

#18:21:25tsberedenials: I dunno....the idea of handing control of things back to the carriers actually annoys me. Imaging having to petition all the major carriers to get your app visible in their stores. <_<
#18:21:35tsbereBeyond that, if you can install stuff from the web in general, not a bad idea
#18:22:14tsbere disliked the options on multiple devices that had carrier specific stores previously
